Living in a resort area (Ocean City & Berlin, MD and Fenwick Island, DE area) there is always a new experience on the horizon. Whether you just like the beach, the local entertainment, the vast amount of wildlife, or the serenity of visiting Assateague Island, there is always something happening here.
This past week we visited Frontier Town in Berlin, just on the outskirts of Ocean City. Although we are full time residents here, there are still places we haven't seen or been to since moving to the area in 2019.
We discovered that Frontier Town is more than just a camping resort. There's live theater in the saloon, The Village of Red Bird (a Cherokee Tribe) with their native costumes and dance, (along with their family history), Austin Anderson and The Texas Trick Riders and so much more. The town itself is a replica of an old fashioned western town from the 1800's.
The photograph with this blog is of Dakota, a 6 year old boy who represents his family well in his dance, his attitude and his extremely polite manners to the guests that he entertained. His parents, John and Kirsten Moore are raising a fine young man!
John "Red Bird" Moore began the tradition in 1960 of teaching the culture and traditions of Native American tribes in his "Village of Red Bird".Today, his son, John "Laughing Wolf", daughter, Aimee "Screaming Eagle", and her nephew Johnny “Thunder Foot”, continue to educate and entertain guests of all ages in the Western Experience at Frontier Town Campground.
After experiencing this with our grandchildren, we've all decided one day of this magical place was not enough! We'll be back!
